EyeDetect® is a computer-based credibility assessment technology that measures involuntary eye behaviour while a person answers a series of true/false questions on screen. Nothing is attached to the body — no wires, no cuff, no breathing tubes — which is the clearest practical difference from a traditional polygraph.
It was developed by Converus, building on academic research into ocular-motor deception detection, and is used in over 40 countries by employers, investigators, legal professionals and private clients. In the UK we use it for relationship, workplace, legal and family matters.

Deciding to lie takes more mental effort than telling the truth, and that extra effort shows up in the eyes in ways people cannot control. During the examination an infrared camera records pupil dilation, blink rate and timing, fixation and reading behaviour, and response times, sampling many times per second.
The recorded data is then scored by algorithm against a validated model, producing a credibility score for the question set. Because scoring is automated, the outcome does not depend on an examiner reading a chart or interpreting body language in the room.
You are seated comfortably in front of a screen with the camera in front of you. There is a short practice section, then the test itself: a set of true/false statements, repeated in a structured order, answered with a button press. It takes roughly 30 minutes, and most people say the hardest part is concentrating rather than anything physical.
Before that, your examiner spends time with you privately to agree the exact questions. This is the part that determines how useful the result is, and it is why we insist on a proper conversation before every test rather than pulling a standard question set off the shelf.
Afterwards you receive a verbal result the same day and a written report setting out the questions asked, the outcome for each, and the accuracy of the method.
EyeDetect® tests specific, factual, answerable statements. It cannot read minds, cannot test feelings or intentions, and cannot answer open questions such as "why did you do it". It also cannot be run on someone who has not consented, and no ethical examiner would try.
It is 86-88% accurate, which is high but not absolute. Any provider claiming certainty is misrepresenting the science, and our reports state the accuracy plainly so you can weigh the result properly.
Adults aged 18 or over who consent freely, are not intoxicated, and are well enough to concentrate for half an hour. Certain eye conditions, some medications and significant sleep deprivation can affect data quality; your examiner will run through a short suitability check with you before the appointment so nobody travels for a test that cannot be completed.

86-88% on validated question sets. That is comparable to or better than a well-run polygraph, but it is not 100% and we never present it that way.
The examination itself is around 30 minutes. Allow about 90 minutes for the full appointment including the pre-test discussion and your result.
The responses measured are involuntary and sampled many times a second, so the countermeasures people try on a polygraph — controlled breathing, tensing muscles — do not apply. Deliberate non-cooperation, such as refusing to read the statements, is detectable as invalid data rather than as a pass.
